What are the criteria for participation?
Position
We welcome applications at all career levels, starting after B.Sc. up to PI level from individuals who currently work at UKSH, CAU or UzL. Please note that professors with a structure-forming professorship1 will not be considered for the award.
1i.e. full professors heading a section/institute/department.

The graphical abstract must be thematically related to one of our main research programmes:
Biomarker/Minimal Residual Disease
Metastasis/Dissemination
Inflammation and Cancer
Immunotherapy/Tumor Immunology

What to hand-in and how to submit your work?
Graphical Abstract
Create a single, concise and self-explanatory visual summary of your research project that captures your project at a single glance.
Format: the work should be submitted as a single high-resolution (300 dpi or greater, not compressed) image files: .tif, .jpg, or .pdf
Size: The image should be suitable to be shared on social media and embedded in a journal article manuscript page.
Category
scientific community: The graphical abstract in this category is intended for researchers, scholars, and other experts in the field who are familiar with the technical terminology and methods used in your research.
general public: The graphical abstract in this category is intended to both inform and captivate a broad audience, including non-experts and members of the public who may not be familiar with the technical language and methods used in your research.
Please note: Each category has its own specific evaluation criteria, which you should take into account when preparing your submission.

April 26th, 2023 - 4 p.m., virtual format
Basic worskhop: In 60 minutes, we will give you a basic tutorial of how a graphical abstract is created and which programs you can use. If you are interested let us know by sending a short mail to science.uccsh@uksh.de.

What are the criteria for evaluation?
Evaluation criteria – target group: scientific community
Clarity and Accuracy: The Graphical Abstract should prioritize clarity and accuracy, providing an easily accessible and intuitive representation of the research topic.
Conciseness: The Graphical Abstract should be short and concise without omitting significant details or results.
Creativity and Aesthetics: The Graphical Abstract should be visually engaging, creative and use appropriate tools, colors, and fonts to effectively present the information in an easy-to-understand manner.
Evaluation criteria – target group: general public
Simplicity and Relevance: The Graphical Abstract should prioritize simplicity and relevance, presenting the research in a clear and concise manner that is accessible to the general public, making it clear why the research is important and why the public should care about it.
Fascination: The Graphical Abstract should draw the reader's attention to the topic and capture his or her interest.
Creativity and Aesthetics: The Graphical Abstract should be visually engaging, creative and use appropriate tools, colors, and fonts to effectively present the information in an easy-to-understand manner.
